Caught in a snowfall on the road and need to put on your snow socks? Stay calm. Unlike traditional metal chains, installing your ISSE textile snow socks requires no tools, strength, or complex mechanisms.
Follow this simple 4-step guide to get back on the road with complete safety:
Step 1: Park in a safe location
Turn on your hazard lights, put on your high-visibility vest, and make sure to stop your vehicle on a flat, safe area off the active traffic lane.
Step 2: Fit the sock over the top of the tire
Take your ISSE snow socks out of their bag. Place the sock over the top of the drive wheels (front-wheel drive for most cars; rear-wheel drive or all four wheels for 4x4 vehicles). Stretch it downwards, covering as much of the tire as possible.
Step 3: Move the car forward half a meter
Drive your vehicle forward or backward about 50 cm (2 feet) so the section of the tire previously touching the ground is exposed.
Step 4: Cover the rest of the wheel and you're good to go!
Finish fitting the elastic edge over the remaining uncovered tire surface. Don't worry if it doesn't look perfectly aligned: ISSE snow socks self-center automatically as soon as you start driving.
ISSE Safety Tips:
-
The maximum recommended speed when driving with textile snow socks is 40–50 km/h (25–30 mph).
-
Remove the socks as soon as you return to clear or dry asphalt to prevent premature wear on the fabric.
